How to remove it

There is no other easy way to check if your WiFi router is already been infected, but if your model is included in the above list, then you should not take any risks. The easiest and the only way to fully remove the VPN filter is to do the factory reset. Generally, that involves pressing down the power button for 5 to 10 seconds, but you also may want to double check based for your specific WiFi router model.

If you do not want to do a full factory reset that can clear the important data from the device, you can also simply reboot your WiFi router. This would not kill the VPN filter entirely, but it will drop the malware back to the initial stage and would buy you some time.

4. Now click ADVANCED > Administration.
5. Then click the Firmware Update or WiFi Router Update and then Check option as to make the WiFi router look for any firmware update.

Things to keep in mind while the update process takes place:

A. Do not interrupt the downloading process by closing the current browsing screen.
B. Do not switch to another web page or Refresh the current page.
C. Do not click on any type of pop up or any link.
6. If an update is available then it will show an alert message to ask you whether if you want to confirm or not. Then click Yes to confirm the download process.

7. Download & Install the new version of the firmware.
8. Once the firmware update is complete, your WiFi router will reboot.
It would take 3 to 5 minutes to complete this update process.
